Cam Newton Has Moved Ahead Of Tom Brady As A Favorite For NFL MVP This Season

When Tom Brady left New England, the Patriots were in terrible shape with their salary cap. All signs pointed to the Patriots hitting rebuild mode, and giving 2nd year quarterback Jarrett Stidham an opportunity. At no point did anyone expect the Patriots to actually replace Tom Brady with someone that can do a better job with this offense, but here we are. After Belichick pulled another trick out of his cutoff sleeves, and signed Cam Newton to what me be the greatest bargain in NFL history, the Patriots remain a legit Super Bowl contender.

And now Cam Newton is actually favored ahead of Tom Brady to win the league MVP.

According to the latest DraftKings Sportsbook, Newton has moved up well ahead of Tom Brady, who has fallen off after mixed results early on.

There is little question that the Patriots offense is moving the ball much more efficiently early on under Newton. If he can remain healthy the entire season, you can only expect them to improve as Newton continues to get familiar with the playbook. Cam Newton has looked every bit like the player that won the MVP back in 2015 after he passed or rushed for 444 of the Patriots 464 total yards in Week 2 (95.7%).
