Breaking: Red Sox Legend David Ortiz Has Been Shot In A Robbery



Rex Sox legend David Ortiz is reportedly in the hospital in Santo Domingo after someone shot him during an attempted armed robbery. A reporter spoke to David Ortiz’s father after learning that he was shot in a burglary attempt in the DR: “They called me to tell me that David is injured and that they took him to a medical center, but they did not tell me how he is or exactly where he was transferred.”

This is an obvious shock to all Red Sox fans and New Englander’s that think of Ortiz as a hero. In a night where most are hoping for the Bruins to force a Game 7 in the Stanley Cup finals, it has abruptly turned to sorrow. Our thoughts are with David Ortiz and his family.

The shooter has been arrested and we are awaiting word on Papi’s condition.

Update:

Ortiz was shot in the lower back, and the bullet exited through his stomach, according to ESPN. The 43-year-old underwent surgery, and reportedly told the emergency room doctor: “Please don’t let me die, I’m a good man.”

According to Dominican journalist Dionisio Soldevilla, Ortiz is currently in stable condition.
