The Steelers announced the surgery was on Monday night.
University of Pittsburgh Medical Center neurosurgeons and Pittsburgh Steelers team physicians Dr. David Okonkwo and Joseph Maroon performed spinal stabilization surgery on Ryan Shazier to address his spinal injury..
Shazier suffered early in the first quarter and was taken off the field on a stretcher and brought to a Cincinnati Trauma Center. It wasn’t until yesterday that he was transferred to a Pittsburgh hospital for surgery.
No additional information about whether Shazier has any movement in his legs, or whether he’s expected to make a full recovery.
