Are The Bruins The Best Hope in Beantown For A Championship?

Are the Bruins the best hope in Beantown?

That may sound hard to imagine especially if you haven’t been giving them much attention lately. Rightfully so the Patriots attempted run at a sixth Superbowl is all most of us have been focused on since the start of September. The Celtics have made waves with the greatness of Kyrie Irving the young budding stars in Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. Sure the NHL will come in 4th on the attention meter behind the other major sports just like anywhere else. But if you’re looking to raise another banner in Beantown I’ll argue that the Bruins are a decent and most likely shot at it in the immediate future.

Since taking over last season Bruce Cassidy has transformed this team into an offensive juggernaut. They have amassed points going 22-3-4 over their last 29 contests. They are the first team in the NHL to have all 3 of their 1st line score 20 goals each. Now they sit one point behind Tampa Bay for best record in the NHL. Before the season started it might have been hard for most of us to predict.

Don Sweeney, Cam Neely and Bruce Cassidy clearly have this team going in the right direction. They’ve been able to get the rookies to contribute. In fact Bruins rookies are leading the league in scoring by quite a bit. The Captain Zedeno Chara is having one of his best seasons in the +/- department. They are a nice mix of young players as well as strong leadership mixing with David Krejci and David Backes. Maybe we shouldn’t be so surprised with the way Bruce Cassidy has gotten these guys going since the end of last season. All he’s done since taking command is lead the Bruins to a 51-19-9 record. Get on board its not too late. This is a very good hockey team.
